Yes we ARE alive!

Hey guys! For all of you who emailed me wondering if we are alive, this is for you! Im so sorry, we haven't been abled to go online for a few days. There's been lots of shinanigans this week. I don't have time to do a big update, and I can't post any new pictures right now but Ill take a second to quickly catch you up to speed. I tried posting this LONG blog our last day in Darjeeling but the internet stopped working and didn't save anything, so I figured I'd update when we got to Kathmandu. We were planning on taking the night bus to Kathmandu but unfortunately a dam broke and flooded to only road to get there. The only way to get there was by plane (or by boat, and in just the past month its crashed three times killing twelve people, to Trevor's dismay I said NO) so we had to pay a ridiculous amount to fly to Kathmandu. The nice part was we flew past Everest, and even though it was quite cloudy it was beautiful. We also met an amazing couple named Katerina (Im sure im butchering the spelling) and David, shes from Norway and he's from England and we've stuck with them for the past few days, exploring the city together. I know what you're wondering, why has it taken so long to get my butt to an internet cafe? In India and Nepal the past four days is a huge holiday called Diwali, and the town pretty much shuts down for it. Diwali is kind of a mixture of Christmas, Halloween, and the fourth of July, and you don't work during the day. Its almost impossible to find an open restaurant in the morning for breakfast, we've ended up having to eat at a few dodgy places because of that but luckily we havent gotten sick from any food. We did get an awful cold in Darjeeling that we're both still suffering from, but at least its not a stomache thing. So anyways we havent been able to update and now Im here but without the connection cord for pictures so Im not going to do a long blog right now. I just wanted to let everyone know we're okay and having a great time in Nepal. Hopefuly in Pochara (sp?) I'll have time to do some serious blogging. I really miss everyone and I hope Ill be able to have a phone conversation with some of you soon. Later!

Yeah!!! Thanks for letting us know you're both ok. I was starting to do some serious worrying. Bummer about the colds. It doesn't sound like it's keeping you down though. I'm with you on the boat ride Paige. If I had a choice between a plane and a boat I'd choose the plane every time.

Love you both!!!

That's so freaking awesome that you were there for Diwali! What did they do? Did they have parties and parades and stuff? Did you think of The Office the whole time and sing Michael Scott's song for Diwali?

I'm glad to hear that you made it safe to Nepal, and even though you can't post pics, I hope you're taking a ton!

Tell Trevsies I say waddup.

Love you so much!!!!!!!

OMG - Paige! What are you doing??? (saying this with my famous look) Just kidding. This is very exciting and I am so proud of both of you for taking on that part of the world. I just read your entire blog and I feel like taking a nap. I love your chest hair comment - HIL-ARIOUS! I bet that plane ride was amazing. Stay healthy and hope you two feel better. Just to give you a quick update...yesterday Ed Schultz was in Pittsburgh for his town hall meeting at the United Steelworkers headquarters. It was fantastic, of course! LOVE HIM! Oh, and Ben is going to be Steve from Blue's Clues for Halloween. Laine is wearing an old puppy costume from the Fogg boys - oh well! Like she cares, right? Sassy girl. Miss you and I look forward to reading more about your adventures!

I just found your blog through a google search and have officially added it to my reader. I'm excited to hear about your journey through Asia. My husband and I had the opportunity to live in China for a year and travel quite a bit there, in Thailand and Cambodia. India is definitely next on our list ... just a matter of breaking away from the daily grind we have going on at home.

*I deleted this comment earlier because I made some grammatical errors and Lucas called me a 4th grader. What an A-hole.

I can't WAIT to come visit you guys. I say "can't wait" because it's going to happen. It's past the "i'm thinking about it" stage. We're to full-on "going". I should probably tell Lucas. I mean, pwobabwy. sowwy. Mess up! Anyway, I'm loving this blog and really want to email you to get more details, but I'm sure your mailbox is chock-full of da emails so I will have to be content with this comment. It looks soooo pretty there!!

Oh, I'm sure you already know, but just in case... hope has found America; and that hope is a man named OBAMA. I can't tell you how amazing it feels knowing that he's going to be our president. I actually feel proud of our country... how weird. Sorry, weiwd. Damnit, sowwy. Fanks. Welcum (you know how I said it).

You're friends are probably (i was going to say pwobabwy but since i'm talking about your friends I thought I'd say it all normal-like...for now) like, "wtf, who the EFF is f-tard?!" ......pwobabwy.

Omg, I should go write a paper. I've been procrastinating for the past 3 hours...

Have fun! Be safe! And we WILL see you soon.

Hi honey! I miss you! I did get both of your messages and it was awesome to hear your voice! Thank you and again I am so very excited for you and pround of you. You have no idea. I'm excited to hear about all of your crazy stories and experiences as I know you will probably be able to write a book when you get back. I have been looking at your blog and following it and cant wait to see more. I am also along with everyone else extremely jealous and happy for you. I'm on my way to paying off all my crap, so hopefully maybe this time next year I will be back in Seattle(Scottsdale kinda blows) and I will have $ saved up to come visit. Thats my goal! Until then I will have to relive your experience through your blog and letters. I love the pictures so far, everything looks like its beautiful there as I'm sure it's more amazing in real life. It's funny that you guys already have some funny stories. I know you dont have one now, but when you do...I want your address so that I can send we can still be pen pals and I can send you some goods. I miss you very very much. I know that its tough for you to call...so I can try to call if you give me a number to call at. Aside from that I work Monday-Friday 8:30 to 5 and Saturday nights and Sunday mornings till 4 pm. I hope everything is well in your world and tell Trevor that I said hi. Have a blast and I look forward to hearing more! I love you so much and miss you!
